FanDuel Week 8 Bargain Buys

So, who are the players that you are targeting this week in FanDuel?  You want to start all great players, but cannot because of the salary cap?  This column is for you.  Here we will list a few players at each position that we consider “Bargain Buys.”  So, what defines a GM Fantasy Pros Bargain Buy?  We consider a bargain buy a player that has a great opportunity to perform at a higher level than what their salary cap reflects.  That being said, we won’t be covering the top players at each position.  The players listed below should help fill in around some of the stars.  Let’s get started on FanDuel Week 8 Bargain Buys!

Quarterbacks

  • Ben Roethlisberger – (PIT) – $7500
  • Carson Palmer (ARI)- $7400
  • Mike Glennon – (TB) – $6800

Big Ben is an interesting selection here as a “Bargain Buy” because Indianapolis is only giving up an average of 214 passing yards per game.  The real truth behind this selection however is that the Steelers DST is very suspect and Andrew Luck should have a field day.  Big Ben will need to keep up and that should result in some above average numbers.

Arizona is at home and the Eagles DST are giving up over 250 passing yards per game.  The fun fact here is that Arizona DST is giving up over 280 passing yards per game.  This has all of the billings of a typical shootout.  Palmer is a great buy at this price and he has a great opportunity to far outperform his value at $7400.

Mike Glennon is also a cheap buy at $6800 and that should allow you to put some studs in your lineup.  With Orton throwing for over 200 yards and 2 TD’s last week against the Vikings DST, Glennon should be able to provide a similar stat line.  As long as your expectations are not Peyton Manning, you should be alright starting Glennon at home this week.

Running Backs

  • Ahmad Bradshaw (IND) – $7000
  • Mark Ingram (NO) – $6100
  • Jerick McKinnon (MIN) – $5800

Bradshaw has been a difference maker and a receiving threat for Andrew Luck so far this season.  Add in the fact that Trent Richardson has been missing practice all week and you have a stellar recipe for Bradshaw.  At $7000, adding Bradshaw to your lineup very well could be the best decision of the FanDuel weekend.

Ingram is back!  Wait, was Ingram actually ever good?  He is no Murray, however, teams have been able to run on the Packers this season as they are giving up nearly 150/yards per game on the ground.  New Orleans needs to try to play keep away from Rodgers, and with Thomas out and Robinson banged up, Ingram will play a huge role for them this week.

Tampa bay has been giving up over 125 yards per game on the ground and the Vikings have been increasing McKinnon’s workload as of late.  Another thing to keep in mind here is that FanDuel is a PPR and McKinnon is also involved in the Vikings passing game.  With a lack of available playmakers, the Vikings may need to get McKinnon involved early and often.  If that occurs, expect a quality stat line, especially at this dollar.

Wide Receivers

  • Terrance Williams (DAL) – $6800
  • Brandon Cooks – (NO) – $6400
  • Mike Evans – (TB) – $5900

Williams is on the list because he has done nothing but performed week after week.  The other reality is that defenses have to focus on Murray and Dez Bryant.  Dallas has also made repeated comments about decreasing Murray’s workload. (If he maintains his current pace, he will set the NFL record for carries in a season)  If Dallas is worried about keeping Murray upright, more targets should be available in the passing game and that will only help Williams.

Brandon Cooks is at home and playing with a gimpy Jimmy Graham.  Add in the fact that the Saints are 18-0 at home with both Drew Brees and Sean Payton together.  Enough Said, Cooks could be a nice play.

Mike Evans is coming off of an injury and getting re-incorporated into the offense while Vincent Jackson is still nursing an injury.  He is a large body WR who sees a good amount of targets.  In addition he is a red zone threat for Glennon.  Evans could easily end up being the receiver that does the most damage against the Vikings this Sunday.

Tight Ends

  • Delanie Walker (TEN) – $5600
  • Zach Ertz (PHI) – $5400
  • Jordan Reed (WAS) – $5200

Delanie Walker has been in the dumps for a few weeks now and he is a risky pick.  However with a new QB and a rookie at that, Walker more than likely will be the security blanket.  Mettenberger has a strong arm and he received rave reviews around draft time.  He is a rookie and will have his pains, but Walker should prove to be a reliable target to throw to.

Arizona has been terrible against the tight end position all year long.  Patrick Peterson should shadow Maclin all day and that should open things up to Ertz to do some damage.  He seems likely to have a good shot at 70-90 yards receiving with a score.

Jordan Reed has missed a ton of time this season and is just getting re-acquainted with the offense.  Colt McCoy is likely going to be the starter, but there is an outside shot that RG3 plays in this game.  Either way, Reed is a quality target and should receive plenty of looks.

Kicker Quick Picks

  • Dan Carpenter (BUF) – $4900
  • Billy Cundiff (CLE) – $4800
  • Randy Bullock (HOU) – $4700
