FanDuel Week 9 Bargain Buys

So, who are the players that you are targeting this week in FanDuel?  You want to start all great players, but cannot because of the salary cap?  This column is for you.  Here we will list a few players at each position that we consider “Bargain Buys.”  So, what defines a GM Fantasy Pros Bargain Buy?  We consider a bargain buy a player that has a great opportunity to perform at a higher level than what their salary cap reflects.  That being said, we won’t be covering the top players at each position.  The players listed below should help fill in around some of the stars.  Let’s get started on FanDuel Week 9 Bargain Buys

Quarterbacks

  • Colin Kaepernick (SF)- $7800
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick – (HOU) – $6400
  • Brian Hoyer – (CLE) – $6200

Kaepernick passed for nearly 350 yards, had a slew of rushing yards, and accumulated 3 total touchdowns in his last meeting with the Rams.  At $7800 he is the highest cap player we have here, but he still has a great shot to outperform that dollar.

Philadelphia has been shredded through the air this year and they are allowing the 7th most passing yards per game.  At $6400 for “The Beard”, it is difficult to ask for a better matchup.  This game could be a track meet and Fitzpatrick could really help you get some studs in your lineup.

The only thing worse than Tampa Bay’s pass defense this season is the fact that they are giving up an average of over 30 points per game.  Sure, Hoyer is no Peyton Manning, but at this point, just about anyone has been able to throw the ball on Tampa.  He is a riskier start than the other QB’s on our list, but the rewards could be immense if he delivers.

Running Backs

  • Ben Tate (CLE) – $6900
  • Bobby Rainey (TB) – $6200
  • Jeremy Hill (CIN) – $5200

Curious as to why Ben Tate is here?  You shouldn’t be considering what we just said about the Bucs for Hoyer.  In addition to the points per game that they are giving up, and all of the passing yards, believe it or not, they are still giving up over 120 yards per game on the ground.  Their defense has been flat bad, and Tate should be licking his chops.

It honestly pains me to put Rainey on this list from the standpoint that I don’t like to highlight 2 backs in the same game.  The reality however is as bad as Tampa is at defending the run, Cleveland is actually worse.  They are giving up over 140 yards per game on the ground, and Martin looks like he will be held out of the game again.

Jeremy Hill has looked great on weeks in which he has shared time with Bernard.  This week Bernard has been sidelined and Hill will more than likely be owned in the majority of leagues.  At $5200, it is difficult to argue that fact.  The Bengals take on the Jaguars this week and with AJ probably coming back off of injury, I would expect the Bengals to lean on their running game.

Wide Receivers

  • Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) – $6600
  • Wes Welker (DEN) – $63 00
  • Kenny Britt (STL) – $5300

Beckham Jr. has 16 targets, 10 catches, and 3 touchdowns over the course of his last 3 games.  If that doesn’t sway you enough, the Giants are playing on primetime against the Colts who can put up points in bunches.  I would expect that Beckham Jr. should be heavily involved this week.

Welker missed the first part of the season and he has underwhelmed ever since.  He has become almost an afterthought of the Denver passing game.  So why is he here?  The reality is this…  He catches passes from Peyton Manning, he is playing against his former team in the New England Patriots, and this game could turn into a track meet.  That is really all that is needed to play Welker at this price.

Kenny Britt is our true risk/reward type of player.  I’ve been a critic of Kenny Britt for years.  This week his team needs him and he has been a player that has delivered on occasion.  Brian Quick is out for the year and Britt moves into the #1 receiver role for a game that they need against a 49ers DST that has underperformed recently.

Tight Ends

  • Vernon Davis (SF) – $5700
  • Jordan Reed (WAS) – $5500
  • Zack Ertz (PHI) – $5400

This is the 3rd week now that I’ve had Vernon on this list.  I stand by what I said 2 weeks ago when I stated that you don’t want to miss out on his high week.  St. Louis got shredded by Brandon Lloyd last meeting.  If you can afford a top notch TE, this is the probably the week that I would take one.  Having said that, Vernon has a good shot to outperform $5700.

Jordan Reed has been getting targets since his return and the Vikings DST is suspect.  It is difficult however to predict what will occur in RG3’s return to action.  Reed is high risk, but he is capable of getting downfield which adds to his big play ability.

Houston is giving up 4th most passing yards per game as they are allowing over 270 passing yards per game.  $5400 is a low price for the points that could be had from Ertz in this matchup.  As I stated with Vernon however, this could be the week to take a top notch tight end as some of the other “Bargain Buy” positions I would consider to be of a larger bargain than the TE position this week.

Kicker Quick Picks

  • Cody Parkey (PHI) – $5000
  • Chandler Catanzaro (ARI) – $4900
  • Nick Novak (SD) – $4700

Defense/ST Quick Picks

  • Arizona Cardinals – $5100
  • Houston Texans – $4800
  • Cleveland Browns – $4800

FanDuel Week 8 Bargain Buys

So, who are the players that you are targeting this week in FanDuel?  You want to start all great players, but cannot because of the salary cap?  This column is for you.  Here we will list a few players at each position that we consider “Bargain Buys.”  So, what defines a GM Fantasy Pros Bargain Buy?  We consider a bargain buy a player that has a great opportunity to perform at a higher level than what their salary cap reflects.  That being said, we won’t be covering the top players at each position.  The players listed below should help fill in around some of the stars.  Let’s get started on FanDuel Week 8 Bargain Buys!

Quarterbacks

  • Ben Roethlisberger – (PIT) – $7500
  • Carson Palmer (ARI)- $7400
  • Mike Glennon – (TB) – $6800

Big Ben is an interesting selection here as a “Bargain Buy” because Indianapolis is only giving up an average of 214 passing yards per game.  The real truth behind this selection however is that the Steelers DST is very suspect and Andrew Luck should have a field day.  Big Ben will need to keep up and that should result in some above average numbers.

Arizona is at home and the Eagles DST are giving up over 250 passing yards per game.  The fun fact here is that Arizona DST is giving up over 280 passing yards per game.  This has all of the billings of a typical shootout.  Palmer is a great buy at this price and he has a great opportunity to far outperform his value at $7400.

Mike Glennon is also a cheap buy at $6800 and that should allow you to put some studs in your lineup.  With Orton throwing for over 200 yards and 2 TD’s last week against the Vikings DST, Glennon should be able to provide a similar stat line.  As long as your expectations are not Peyton Manning, you should be alright starting Glennon at home this week.

Running Backs

  • Ahmad Bradshaw (IND) – $7000
  • Mark Ingram (NO) – $6100
  • Jerick McKinnon (MIN) – $5800

Bradshaw has been a difference maker and a receiving threat for Andrew Luck so far this season.  Add in the fact that Trent Richardson has been missing practice all week and you have a stellar recipe for Bradshaw.  At $7000, adding Bradshaw to your lineup very well could be the best decision of the FanDuel weekend.

Ingram is back!  Wait, was Ingram actually ever good?  He is no Murray, however, teams have been able to run on the Packers this season as they are giving up nearly 150/yards per game on the ground.  New Orleans needs to try to play keep away from Rodgers, and with Thomas out and Robinson banged up, Ingram will play a huge role for them this week.

Tampa bay has been giving up over 125 yards per game on the ground and the Vikings have been increasing McKinnon’s workload as of late.  Another thing to keep in mind here is that FanDuel is a PPR and McKinnon is also involved in the Vikings passing game.  With a lack of available playmakers, the Vikings may need to get McKinnon involved early and often.  If that occurs, expect a quality stat line, especially at this dollar.

Wide Receivers

  • Terrance Williams (DAL) – $6800
  • Brandon Cooks – (NO) – $6400
  • Mike Evans – (TB) – $5900

Williams is on the list because he has done nothing but performed week after week.  The other reality is that defenses have to focus on Murray and Dez Bryant.  Dallas has also made repeated comments about decreasing Murray’s workload. (If he maintains his current pace, he will set the NFL record for carries in a season)  If Dallas is worried about keeping Murray upright, more targets should be available in the passing game and that will only help Williams.

Brandon Cooks is at home and playing with a gimpy Jimmy Graham.  Add in the fact that the Saints are 18-0 at home with both Drew Brees and Sean Payton together.  Enough Said, Cooks could be a nice play.

Mike Evans is coming off of an injury and getting re-incorporated into the offense while Vincent Jackson is still nursing an injury.  He is a large body WR who sees a good amount of targets.  In addition he is a red zone threat for Glennon.  Evans could easily end up being the receiver that does the most damage against the Vikings this Sunday.

Tight Ends

  • Delanie Walker (TEN) – $5600
  • Zach Ertz (PHI) – $5400
  • Jordan Reed (WAS) – $5200

Delanie Walker has been in the dumps for a few weeks now and he is a risky pick.  However with a new QB and a rookie at that, Walker more than likely will be the security blanket.  Mettenberger has a strong arm and he received rave reviews around draft time.  He is a rookie and will have his pains, but Walker should prove to be a reliable target to throw to.

Arizona has been terrible against the tight end position all year long.  Patrick Peterson should shadow Maclin all day and that should open things up to Ertz to do some damage.  He seems likely to have a good shot at 70-90 yards receiving with a score.

Jordan Reed has missed a ton of time this season and is just getting re-acquainted with the offense.  Colt McCoy is likely going to be the starter, but there is an outside shot that RG3 plays in this game.  Either way, Reed is a quality target and should receive plenty of looks.

Kicker Quick Picks

  • Dan Carpenter (BUF) – $4900
  • Billy Cundiff (CLE) – $4800
  • Randy Bullock (HOU) – $4700

FanDuel Week 7 Bargain Buys

So, who are the players that you are targeting this week in FanDuel?  You want to start all great players, but cannot because of the salary cap?  This column is for you.  Here we will list a few players at each position that we consider “Bargain Buys.”  So, what defines a GM Fantasy Pros Bargain Buy?  We consider a bargain buy a player that has a great opportunity to perform at a higher level than what their salary cap reflects.  That being said, we won’t be covering the top players at each position.  The players listed below should help fill in around some of the stars.  Let’s get started on FanDuel Week 7 Bargain Buys.

Quarterbacks

  • Colin Kaepernick (SF)- $7800
  • Joe Flacco – (BAL) – $7700
  • Carson Palmer – (ARI) – $7300

Against Denver, the 49ers are going to need to keep the pressure on.  Kaepernick has been outperforming his salary recently in FanDuel including last week posting nearly 30 points in a primetime matchup.  This again is a primetime game on Sunday night and Colin shouldn’t disappoint.

Flacco absolutely destroyed Tampa Bay last week with 5 early touchdowns.  I’m not saying that he is going to replicate that performance, however Atlanta is allowing an average of 278 pass yards per game.  This game should be a solid performance for Flacco against a subpar defense.

So, what did Carson Palmer do in his first game back from injury?  Not much, just attempted 44 passes for over 250 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Oakland is a middle of the road defense and I would expect that Palmer is well worth the cap at $7300.

Running Backs

  • Ahmad Bradshaw (IND) – $6600
  • Justin Forsett (BAL) – $6200
  • Storm Johnson (JAX) – $5400

Bradshaw will be part of a game that could turn into a high scoring affair.  Both the Colts and Bengals have high powered offenses capable of putting points on the board in bunches.  At $6600, and with being Luck’s safety net out of the backfield, Bradshaw could be in line for some decent stats.

Justin Forsett is here for a similar reason as Flacco.  The Falcons defense has been terrible on the season and in addition to the passing yards per game that they are allowing, they are also giving up over 140 yards per game on the ground.  Forsett catches passes and he is the current choice out of the crowded Raven’s backfield.

Storm Johnson is an interesting choice here as he did not have a great yards per carry last week.  The reality however is that the Jaguars had him on a carry count.  He only received 10 carries and still managed to pop in a touchdown.  This week they face the Browns who are giving up nearly 150 yards per game rushing.  If Storm is going to make a fantasy impact and show why he should earn the job, we should see that performance this week.

Wide Receivers

  • Sammy Watkins (BUF) – $6400
  • Malcom Floyd (SD) – $5800
  • Marques Colston (NO) – $5500

The Vikings are not giving up an abundance of passing yards per game, however Watkins is a bargain at this price and he is a playmaker.  He gets an abundance of targets and should play a factor in a game that will be played on his home field.

Floyd is the deep threat in San Diego right now.  He is pulling targets away from Allen and should continue to do so this week against the Chiefs.  Eddie Royal left last week with an injury and Floyd will capitalize if Royal cannot go on Sunday.

Colston is on this list because Brees needs to throw to someone and there is no indication at this point that Jimmy Graham is going to be playing in this game.  Although Colston’s cap is extremely appealing, there is some high risk with this pick as Detroit bolsters one of the best pass defenses in football to this point.  We like Colston as someone to see a good share of targets, but a bit of caution is advised.

Tight Ends

  • Dwayne Allen (IND) – $5700
  • Vernon Davis (SF) – $5700
  • Larry Donnell (NYG) – $5500

We were off on Dwayne Allen last week, but we are going to try him again this week against the Bengals.  Last week he had 3 catches for 49 yards.  He did however have 7 targets and that was in a game where Hilton dominated.  He should be well targeted again this week and the way Luck is playing, it is a good idea to have a piece of the Colts.

Vernon is at a great cap here at $5500 and this should be a fun matchup to watch in primetime against Denver.  Last week both Crabtree and Lloyd scored.  This offense has a lot of weapons and it will be nothing more than a matter of time before Vernon gets his due.  Don’t miss out on it when it occurs.

Larry Donnell along with the rest of the Giants had a terrible game last week against the Eagles.  This week could be a bit scary also with the way the Cowboys are playing and how they dominated Seattle.  Having said that however we believe that Giants will make enough adjustments to make this a better offensive showing.  If there is a Giant that we are willing to gamble on, it is Donnell as he is clearly the red zone target for Eli.  With Cruz out, it only amplifies his worth.

Kicker Quick Picks

  • Dan Carpenter (BUF) – $5000
  • Nick Novak (SD) – $5000
  • Cairo Santos (KC) – $4500

Defense/ST Quick Picks

  • Houston Texans – $5100
  • Buffalo Bills – $5000
